The Selvam Educational and Charitable Trust, Vadakangulam was established in the year under the Chairmanship of Dr. S.A. Raja, a popular philanthropist and educationist hailing from Vadakkangulam with a vision to facilitate quality education especially for socially and economically deprived younger generation and to equip and enrich young men and women to meet global challenges in development, innovation and application of technology for the service of humanity thereby, leading to include core human values through ethical practices and inspire them to serve the society. The trust has established more than Higher Educational Institutions in Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Pharmacy, Law, Polytechnic, Nursing, Agriculture and Arts and Science. Apart from establishing various Institutions, the Trust has been involved in promoting various Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) such as Deaf and Dumb Association, Blood Donation camps, Eye camps, Tree plantation, Swatch Bharath, etc.

Joy University School of Law (JU-SOL) under the able leadership of Dr. S. A. Joy Raja, Chancellor and guidance of Prof. Dr. Rajesh S, Vice Chancellor, aims to enable the students with excellent legal studies through the combination of exposure to the advanced syllabus, legal education programmes and faculty monitored participation in curricular and extra curricular activities. JU-SOL programme structure enhance practical knowledge of the students through moot courts along with the legal education. It helps the students to shine as advocates, judges, policy makers, corporate legal consultants and academicians and also prepare for new age careers. JU-SOL prepares students to become highly professionals in legal education to meet the emerging challenges of working in a globalized knowledge economy in which the organization of law and legal practice are undergoing a paradigm shift.
