How I joined TIEC? :
I joined the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering after successfully completing my Higher Secondary education, based on merit through the Tamil Nadu engineering admission process prevailing at that time. With a strong interest in electrical systems and core engineering subjects, I enrolled in the B.E. program at The Indian Engineering College under Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, in the year 2000. This undergraduate education laid a solid foundation in electrical and electronics engineering and played a crucial role in shaping my academic interest, which later motivated me to pursue higher studies, research, and a long-term career in teaching and engineering research.
My Professional Journey :
Dr. A. Suresh is an accomplished academician, researcher, and administrator with over 25 years of distinguished experience in technical education, spanning teaching, research, leadership, and industry consultancy. He currently serves as Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Marine Engineering at AMET Deemed to be University, Chennai, where he plays a pivotal role in academic planning, research mentoring, NAAC-related activities, and curriculum development. His academic journey began with a strong foundation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, followed by a Master’s degree in Power Electronics and Industrial Drives and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, with research focused on resonant inverter–fed induction heating systems. Over the years, he has held key leadership and faculty positions including Vice Principal and Head of the EEE Department, Professor, Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer across reputed institutions, contributing significantly to institutional growth and academic excellence.
Dr. Suresh is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor under AMET University, Anna University, and St. Peter’s University, having successfully guided multiple doctoral scholars in areas such as power electronics, renewable energy systems, artificial intelligence, data science, medical diagnostics, and smart grids. His prolific research output includes 150+ publications in reputed international journals and conferences, several funded research and consultancy projects, and patents in emerging technologies such as AI-optimized hardware systems and power system protection. A recipient of numerous national and international awards for teaching and research excellence, he has also authored textbooks and book chapters, served as a reviewer and editorial board member for leading journals, and actively organized and participated in international conferences, FDPs, and workshops. Through his sustained contributions to teaching, research, innovation, and academic leadership, Dr. Suresh continues to make a significant impact on engineering education and interdisciplinary research
