Prof. Dr. T. Kannan is Dean (Research and Accreditation) of Joy University. He obtained his Ph.D.  in Mechanical Engineering from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore. He has 33 years of experience in teaching including 25 years in research. Previously he served as Principal of School of Computing, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus. His research interest includes Surface Engineering, Metal Joining and Process Optimization. Under his supervision, 5 students have completed their Ph.D. He has published more than 180 papers in the reputed Journals and the Conference Proceedings. He has organized many National and International conferences.

He is a life member of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), and Indian Welding Society (IWS). He has received the ‘Best Project Award’ from the Director of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu, for the year 1989 for his UG project. Recognizing his contribution and service to the field of higher education, he was awarded ‘Shri. P.K. Das Memorial Best Faculty Award 2009 - 2010’ by the Nehru College of Educational and Charitable Trust, Coimbatore, ‘Cognizant – Kumaraguru College of Technology Best Faculty Award - 2008’ by M/S Cognizant Technology Solutions, 'Rotary Vocational Service Excellence Award' from the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Millennium for the year 2017 and Best Principal Award 2023 from All India Management Association and India Case Research Centre, Hyderabad.
