Dr. P. Muthu Kannan is a passionate academician and able administrator with over 31 years of rich experience in renowned institutions such as VIT University (Vellore), Saveetha University (Chennai), Galgotias University (Greater Noida), and D. Y. Patil University (Navi Mumbai).

He is from the Communication Engineering fraternity specializing in Antennas and Microwaves. He served as an academician for Twenty one years with experience in flexible credit curriculum design, Activity based teaching and experiential learning. As Head of Department for ten years, he played a key role in curriculum development, laboratory establishment, and faculty training. 

Dr. Muthu Kannan has published 50 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 20 papers in conferences, and has authored four book chapters and one textbook. With his intense guidance, five scholars successfully completed their PhD Programme. He has also been associated with five consultancy projects and two funded research projects.

He advocates quality enhancement in the operations of the University. He was in the forefront of implementing Quality measures in the University environment during his tenure as “Director – IQAC. He was involved in IET (UK), ABET accreditation processes and the activities of NAAC, NBA and NIRF.

He was instrumental in implementing Procedures for University Examinations, Evaluations and Digitization of exam operations for a multidisciplinary University. With his guidance, a unique question paper portal was developed and utilized for Question paper setting and processing.

He delivered lectures in various technical workshops with the topics - Antennas and Electromagnetics. He also conducted several faculty development programmes on “Outcome Based Education”, “NAAC Methodology”, “NBA Process”, “University Examination Procedures”, “Question Paper Setting using Outcome based education” and “Activity based Teaching”.

Currently, Dr. P. Muthu Kannan serves as the Registrar of Joy University, guiding academic and administrative excellence with a focus on quality, innovation, and institutional growth.
